Electrical Lugs

A Lug is a commonly used electrical fitting to which electrical wires / cables can be soldered or otherwise connected. It is a bolt on an enclosure tied to an electric potential within the enclosure and supporting a cable / wire connection.

Types
Different types of electrical lugs are designed for meeting diverse applications. The commonly used lugs are:

These fittings are made from high quality metals including:

• Copper: These lugs are used in demanding applications and offer high-strength-low-resistance construction. The lugs are compact in design for working in restricted spaces and can also be reused.
  
  
• Aluminum: These lugs are suitable for use in demanding conditions and are high-strength. The oxide-displacing jaws help in separating dissimilar wires and preventing galvanic corrosion.

Depending on the material of construction, these lugs provide maximum conductivity and low resistance in applications and stranded conductors. High mechanical strength allows torquing with standard wrenches. These lugs are manufactured in single and dual-conductor versions and provide safety to different wire and cable applications.
